Title: On the Stones
Author: m.jules
Pairing: Yao Ling/Ran Fan
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Theme: 09 – dash
Disclaimer: Not mine. But you knew that.
Word Count: 111
Author’s Notes: And now for something completely different. Or not. C'mon, Arakawa, I need more canon! Opening quote from David Gray, "As I'm Leaving."
Throw my heart out
On the stones
And I'm almost gone.
She felt like water moving through shattered rock, pressing at the edges of broken boundaries that had once structured her life, her very existence. She felt wild, untamed, and would almost be afraid if it weren't for the feral tenacity running through her. She clenched her jaw as if she were still biting down on that bit of leather the automail mechanic had given her.
She could survive losing her arm. She could bear up under the shame of failure. She could damn well hold on when it felt as if all her hopes were being dashed against those jagged rocks. Darkness lived in him now; she would live in darkness.

I would love to write more. It would be easier if I could have a little more canon to go on, so every month I keep hoping Arakawa will give me more. And then she doesn't. *sighs* Oh well; I'm sure she'll come back to it soon.'
Thank you so much for your kind words. These drabbles never quite turn out the way I want them to, but I'm glad they're hitting some good chords anyway. :)
